In this season, the show went back t o airing one new episod e a week, but stayed in the hour-length format , fillin g up the second half-hour with episodes f rom previous seasons and some of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. T his entire s eason, al ong with the secon d half of se ason 6, is available on Garfield and Friends Volume 5 D VD set. Also w orth not ing is that here, a n ew theme song was added that was wr itten by J. R. Joh nston and Ne il Panton. The them e was sung by J.R. Johnston. This theme song wa s not s hown internationally, and as a result, it does not appear on the DVDs (althoug h Garfield's quotations are kept intact). This new introductio n sequence used m ost cl ips from Seasons 5-7 and a few from the first two seasons, as wel l as Garfield in P aradi se and Garfield' s Feline Fantasies .
