In this season, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up the second half-hour with episodes from previou s seasons and some of the prime-time s pecial s from the 1 980s. Also worth noti ng i s that here, a ne w theme song was added t hat was written by J.R. Johnston and Neil P anton. The theme was su ng by J.R. Johns ton. This theme son g was not show n internat ionally, an d as a result, i t does not appear on the DVDs (although G arfield's quotations are kept intact). This new introduction sequence used most clips from Seas ons 5-7 and a few from the first two seasons, as w ell as Garfiel d in Paradi se and Gar field's Feline Fantasies.
