In this se ason, the show went back to airing one new episode a week, b ut stayed in the hour- leng th forma t, filling up the second half-hour with episode s from p revious seasons and som e of the prime-time specials from the 1980s. This entire season, along with th e sec ond half of s eason 6, i s available on Ga rfield and Frien ds Volume 5 DVD set. Also worth notin g is that here, a new theme song was added that was written by J.R. Johnsto n and Neil Panton. The theme was sung b y J.R. John ston. T his theme song was not sh own in ternationall y, and as a r esult, it does no t appear on t he DVDs ( although Garfield's quot ations a re kept intact). This new introduct ion sequence used mos t clips from Season s 5-7 a nd a few fro m the first two seasons, as well as Garfield in Paradise and Ga rfield's Feline Fantasies.
