In thi s season , the s how went back to airing one n ew episode a week, but stayed in the hour-le ngth format, fill ing up the second half-hour with epis odes from previous seasons and some of the prime-ti me special s fr om the 1980s . This en tire season, along with the se cond half of seaso n 6, is available on Garfield and Frien ds Volume 5 DVD s et. Also wor th notin g is that here, a new theme s ong w as added that was written by J.R. Jo hnsto n and Nei l Panton. The theme was sung by J.R. Johnston. This theme song was not sho wn internationally, and as a r esult, it does not appear on the DVDs (although Garfield's q uotations are kept intact). T his new intr oduction seq uence used most clips from Seas ons 5-7 and a fe w from the first t wo seasons, as well as Garfield in Pa radise and Garfield's Fe line Fantasies.
