In this season, the show went back to airing o ne new episode a w eek, but stayed in th e hour- lengt h form at, filling up the second half-hour with episodes fro m previo us s easons and so me of the prime-time speci als from the 1980s. Th is entire se ason, along with the second half of seas on 6, is available on Garfield and Friends Volume 5 DV D set. Als o wor th noting is that her e, a ne w th eme song was a dded that w as w ritte n by J.R. Johnston and Neil Panton. The theme was su ng by J.R. J ohnsto n. Thi s theme s ong was not shown inte rnationally, and as a result, it does n ot appear o n the DVDs (although Garf ield's quo tations are kept in tact ). This new introductio n sequence used m ost cl ips from Seasons 5-7 and a few from the f irst two s easons, as well as Garfield in Paradise and Garfield's Feline Fa ntasies.
