In this season, the sho w went back to airing one new epi sode a week, but stayed in the hour-length format, filling up t he se cond half -hour with episod es fro m previou s seasons and some of the prime-time specia ls from the 1980s. Th is entire sea son, along w ith the s econd half of season 6, is available o n Garfield and F rien ds Volume 5 DVD set. Also worth noting is that here, a new theme song wa s added that was written by J.R. J ohnston and Neil Panton. The theme was sung by J.R. Joh nston . This theme song was not shown inte rnational ly, and as a result, it does not appear on the DVDs (althoug h Garfiel d's quotations are kept intact). This new i ntro duction seq uence used most clips fr om Seaso ns 5-7 and a few from the first two seasons, as well as Garfield in Paradise and Garfield's Feline Fant asies.
