CBS will b e bringing back another one of i ts veteran d ramas for the 2019-20 TV season. Announced this afternoon, the net work has officially r enewed “N CIS” for its seventeenth season. The n ews comes after star and executive producer, Mark Harm on, sign ed a new deal with CBS to rep rise his role on the series. “ NCIS has been a global juggernaut for almost two decades,” s aid CBS Enter tainment Pre sident, Kelly Kahl. “Its viewers are clearly the most loyal of an y drama on t elevis ion. They are passionate about the characters, the plotlines and the storytelling. We owe a h uge debt of g ratitude to the gifted produc tion team and t he cast, led by th e extrao rdinary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show will r emain a linchpin of the CBS schedule this co ming season.” In its current season, “N CIS” has been averaging 12.2 millio n viewer s in the live s ame day rating s, making it TV’s seco nd-most-watched s cripted seri es, behind only “The Big Bang Th eory.” It h as rem ained a str ong perfor mer for CBS, in bot h its ratings and viewershi p numbers, and was wi dely conside red to b e a stron g renewal c ontender leading up to the ann ouncement t oday.
