CBS will be bringing b ack another one of i ts veteran dramas for the 2019-20 TV season. Announ ced this afternoon, the netw ork has off icially rene wed “NCIS ” for its s eventeenth s eason. The n ews comes after star and executive produc er, Mark Har mon, sig ned a new d eal with CB S to reprise his role on the series. “NCIS has been a global jugg ernaut for almost tw o decades,” sa id CBS E ntertainmen t President, Kelly Kahl. “Its view ers are clearly the most loy al of any drama on television. The y are passionate about the characters, the plotlines and th e storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to t he g ifted production tea m and the cast, led by the e xtraordinary Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the s how w ill remain a li nchpin of the C BS schedule this coming seas on.” In its current season, “NCIS” has been avera ging 12.2 million viewers in the live sam e day ratin gs, making i t TV’s sec ond-most-watched scripted s eries, behind only “The Big Bang Th eory.” It has remai ned a s trong performer for CBS, in both its rati ngs and viewer ship numbe rs, a nd was widel y considered to b e a strong renewal contende r leading up to the announ cement today.
