CBS will be bringing back another one of its vet eran dramas fo r the 2019-20 TV season. Ann ounced thi s afternoon, the netwo rk has officially renewed “NCIS” for its s eventeent h season. T he new s comes a fter star and executive pro ducer, Ma rk Harmon, signed a new deal with C BS to reprise his role o n the series. “NCIS ha s been a global juggernaut for al most two de cades,” said CBS Entertainment President, Kelly Kahl. “Its viewers are clearly the most loya l of any drama o n television. Th ey are passionate about the characters, the pl otlines and the storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the gifted produc tion team and the cast, led by the extraordina ry Mark Harmon. We are delighted that the show wil l remain a linchpin of the CBS schedule this coming sea son.” In its current season, “NCIS” has b een averagin g 12.2 m illion viewers i n the live same day rating s, mak ing it TV’s second-most-watche d scripte d series, behind only “The Big Bang T heor y.” It has remained a strong performer for CBS, in both its ratings and viewership numbers, and was widely co nside red to be a strong rene wal contende r leading up to the announcement today.
