CBS w ill be bring ing back another one of its veteran dramas for th e 2019-20 T V se ason. Announced this afternoon, the network has officially rene wed “NC IS” for i ts sev enteenth season. The news comes after star and e xecu tive producer, Mar k Harmon, signed a new deal with CBS to reprise his role on the se ries. “NCIS has been a global j uggernaut for almost two decades,” said C BS Entertainment Presiden t, Ke lly Kahl. “Its vi ewers are clearly the most loyal of any drama on telev ision. The y are passionate abo ut the character s, the plotlines and the storytelling. We owe a huge debt of gratitude t o the gifted production team and the cast, led by the extraordinary Mark Harmon. We are de lighted that the show will remai n a linc hpin of the CBS schedule this coming season.” In i ts current seas on, “NCIS” has been a veraging 12.2 million vi ewers in th e live sa me day ratings, making it TV’s second-most-watc hed scri pted series, behind only “The Big Bang Th eory.” It has re main ed a strong performer fo r CBS, in both its ratings and vi ewership numbers , and was widel y considered to be a strong renewal contender leading up to the announcement to day.
