St ottl emeyer, wh o wavered bet ween admirat ion for Monk and annoyance at h is eccentric ities dur ing the firs t sea son, is becoming more of a friend to M onk as the series devel ops, frequ ently c alling him in to help, as much for Monk's benefit as for his own.
