Sir David Attenborough is to pr esent and narrate a new land mark film, Cli mate Chang e Th e Facts for BBC One . The documentary will provid e an urgent look at the s cience of climate change and the poten tial solutions to this global threat, combi ning footage that re veals the alre ady devast ating impact of c limate chang e on ou r plane t with inte rviews fro m some of the world’s le ading climat e scientists. After one of the ho ttest yea rs on rec ord, climatolog ists and m eteorologists explain the eff ects of climate c hange on both the human populatio n and th e natural world. Scientists , including Dr James Hansen, Dr Michael Mann and Professor Cat herine Mitchell will forensically unpa ck the science behind the extreme weather condition s of recent yea rs, which have seen unpreceden ted st orms and c atastrophi c wildfires; as well as det ailing how the ac celerating rate at which the worl d’s ice is meltin g is causi ng se a level rises, and how d eforestation is exacer bating the problem of glob al war ming by adding to CO2 in the atmosphere. T he film will deliv er a n unflinch ing exploration of what dangero us level s of climat e ch ange c ould mean fo r human populations, wha t is likely to happe n if glob al warming exceeds 1.5 degr ees and if major r eductions in CO2 emissi ons are no t made in the nex t decade. The documentary looks too at potent ial solutio ns, exploring the innovations, technology and actions the wor ld's governments and industries are t aking to prevent further w arming and showcasing individua ls who are creating change at gr assroots leve ls.
