A film adap tation of a play made by a high school drama club, directed by Yamas hita Nobuhiro of Linda Linda Linda (2 006). It’ s es sentially a coming-of-age film about teen ager s made by teenagers. During summer vacation, at a high s chool, the PE te acher makes female students who skipped his class cl ean the outdoor s wimming pool. The drained pool is full o f sand blown in from a n earby baseball field, and the task of s cooping up the sand and putting it in b ucke ts seems meaningless. Chizuru, who used to be unbeatable in the swim club in middle school even against boys, practices imaginary swimming in t he sand-filled pool, while Kokoro, who is ser ious abou t cultiv ating her fe minine c harm by di ligently applying makeu p, doesn’t care a bout cleaning. With thei r own sto ries, Miku , who diligently practice s dance moves typic ally performed by men, and Yui, who was the sw im club captain last year, and the other girls meet and converse on the pool floo r under the summer sun, where une xpected conflicts arise and resolve in unexpec ted ways .
