Haunted b y the mem ory o f Walter Hol derlin , a soldier he killed during World War I, French musician Paul R enard (Phillips Holmes) confesse s to a pries t (Frank Sheridan), who grants him absolution. Using t he address on a let ter he found on the dead man's body, Paul then travels to G ermany to find his family.
