CSI NY (Crime Scene Inve stigation New York) is an Ameri can police procedural television series that ra n on CBS from Se ptember 22, 2004 to February 22, 2013, for a total of nine seasons and 197 original epis odes. The show follows the in vest igations of a team of NYPD fore nsic scie ntists and police offic ers i dentified as Crim e Scen e Inv estigators (in stead of the actual title of Crime Scene Unit Fore nsic Te chnicians (CSU)) as they unveil t he ci rcumstances behind mysterious and unusual deaths , as well as other crimes. The series is a n indirect spin-of f from t he veteran serie s CSI Crime Scene Investigation an d a direct spi n-off from CSI Miami, durin g an epis ode in which seve ral o f the CSI NY characters made their first appea rances.
