Min Ji-suk r uns a ticket barwhere c ustom ers can purchase tickets for certain servic esin the town of Sokcho in Gan gwon-do. She hires Mi ss Yang (Ahn So-you ng), Miss Hong (Lee Hye-young), and Se-young (Jeon Se-young) through the em ploymen t agency. Miss Yang and Miss Hong, who are well experie nced in this type of business, are used to acceptin g propositions from custo mers. But Se-young, who is dating a colle ge s tudent named Min-su, rej ects all req uests for sexual f avors. When Min-su prof esses to having problems with his tuition and fi nances, S e-young r eassures h im that she will procure the necessary funds for him. When the bar's clientele begins to d windle bec ause o f Se-young, Ji-suk reprimands her severely. Se-young dev elops a close rela tionship wi th a Captain Pak and even allow s him to sleep with her. She asks Captain Pak to find Min-su employment on a boat, but when Min-su comes t o So kcho for hi s new job, he sees how Se-y oung has bee n making her living. Shocked, he turns his back on t he job an d leaves. When he event ually returns to Sokcho, he scathing ly denounces Se-yo ung's mor ality and sev ers their relationship. D ecade s ag o, Ji-suk had stumbled into the bar business in a desperate effort to support her h usband, wh o was serving time in prison; she later left hi m volunt arily out of shame and moral degradation. Con cerned that Se-young w ill end up with the same f ate, Ji-suk as ks Min-su to m eet with her. She begs him not to aba ndon Se-young, but he flatly refuses.
