In 1965, Bob Crane, who had achieved some earlier success as a televi sion supportin g actor, was working a s a succes sful morning radio DJ at KNX Lo s Angeles. D espite e njoying his work, photo graphy (especial ly of the female form ) and d rumming, Crane wanted to be a mo vie star. S o it was with s ome re luctance that he accepte d the title starring role in a ne w television sitcom called Hogan's Heroes (1 965), a WW II POW comedy.
