Bipeda lism, or 'two-footed walking', is the story of a painter w ho grew up in an orphanage and only years later learns the circumstances of his father's disappearanc e and death . Chi ldhood memories bring th e main cha racter back to the past he buys a house in the suburbs that used to belong to his fami ly. I n the basem ent, he finds his fathe r's archives a nd scie ntific research documents on t he h ybridization of hum an r ace w ith related bio logical s pecies. S tudying th e archiv e materia l, he une xpectedly finds ev idence of effo rts to r enew th e experim ents on t he remaining hybrid population. The painter then becomes a researche r, and co nsequen tly a victim. The basic idea of his father's research was to change, control and i nfluence th e process of human e volut ion - initially co nnect ed with eugenics theories of the period before World War II, an d now b eing placed in a context of modern 'biotechnological' expectations by his f ormer colleagues. The main chara cter tries to recreate and realize h is father's heritage , who was f orce d to cooperate with state t error organizations, using the resul ts of his secret research.
