One is that i ts cast wasn't exactly well known. Ano ther reason i s that its ending isn't exac tly a happy one . Still a third reason is that Universal h ad troub le trying to promot e it in the wake of the huge su ccess of Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A SPAC E ODYSSEY.
