In the early 1920s, Georges Laffont (Rom ain Du ris), traumatised by the ho rrific tren ch warfar, decides to l eave his li fe behind and travel to West Africa into th e vast territori es of Upper Volta in the com pany of Diofo, artist and also s urvivor of the Great War.
